If you haven't seen this gorgeous book, you _must_. It's a lovely Japanese folktale with beautiful collage-style art. I think there should be loads more folktales for kids like this one -- it's a great way of teaching kids about the world, and about human nature. Truly a timeless story, and a great book! (My youngest nieces and nephews are getting copies for Christmas!) Children also love making their own pop-up cards and pages--it helps them develop three-dimensional design skills, problem-solving techniques and storytelling abilities. My "Pocket Paper Engineer" workbooks show step-by-step how to make each pop-up structure, and I know from having taught these techniques for over twenty-five years that they work for all ages. A love of books and of making things by hand is such an important part of a well-rounded education! I think you should educate yourself on the process of writing movie tie-ins before judging a work. In most cases, the writers and editors are working on EXTREMELY tight deadlines, and with little material. And this one has a double-whammy of being the adaption of a most beloved book. Love your blog...keep it up :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
